THE TERRE TINTE PROJECT
Our mission is to spread the culture of EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, supporting independent producers and heroic agriculture in Sicily, with the primary goal of combating the abandonment of olive groves.
For some farmers, managing traditional olive groves, especially monumental olive trees, is more of a burden than a source of income. In addition to becoming passionate olive growers, we have established strong relationships with other small producers. United by the same production constraints, we understand that we are bound by a common denominator: producing in the TERRE TINTE.
We produce in Sicily, cultivate the olive groves, identify the limits, reflect on solutions, reinterpret the existing: optimizing, manufacturing, marketing. We create an innovative enhancement of the actions and objectives of production, driven by a spirit of territorial, socio-cultural, and economic valorization.
THE TERRITORY
We cultivate extra virgin olive oil from native varieties, in a mosaic of plots scattered in Western Sicily. Sustainability is not just a word for us but a concept integrated at the social, economic, and environmental levels.
We carefully follow the entire process: from olive cultivation to the delicate phases of extraction and bottling.
FROM FRUIT TO OIL
Cultivation, Harvest, Extraction, Storage, Bottling.
Over the years, Terre Tinte has perfected a method for the sustainable management of traditional olive groves. We favor the traditional system, characterized by a low plant density (about 250 per hectare), allowing the cultivation of a wide range of cultivars. Unlike the modern high-density system (about 1500 per hectare), our traditional approach focuses on preserving biodiversity and the specificity of the various oils produced.
This method not only ensures greater genetic diversity among plants but also preserves the richness of the different aromatic and taste profiles of our oils. Moreover, it actively contributes to the conservation of olive landscapes, supporting the socio-cultural value they represent as authentic heritage shared by the community.
Choosing to maintain the traditional system not only embodies respect for tradition but also a tangible commitment to sustainability, territorial identity, and the valorization of olive diversity.
